This personal story of a Post-War American-Italian family facing choices between faith, culture, and the ultimate cold reality of life when one woman’s pregnancy endangers her after several near-fatal miscarriages.
As she begins to question the constraints of her faith against the chance of her survival, she finds herself alone against the will of her husband, faith, and family, forcing a decision that may cost her life.
1950's America saw the Catholic Church condemn the use of contraception, including the Rhythm Method. This created the Baby Boom of that decade, also bringing changes in attitudes about sexuality and parenting to the forefront for the first time.
HER LIFE CHOICE is a digitally remastered and re-edited feature film, originally entitled "Small Miracles," as a short produced in 1987. The new feature film is a collection of home movies intercut with scripted narration, which was filmed in 16mm at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and locations around Atlanta. With original family music in the background, this film turns back the pages of an era we see elements at odds that seem to be repeating in politics today.
